Lively Arts: McSweeney's vs. They Might Be Giants

Talent runs amok in a music-meets-literature event for big readers and fans of pop music with a brain. Best-selling author Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius) is joined onstage by innovative rockers They Might Be Giants in a show based on McSweeney's Issue #6-a special run of Eggers' literary magazine for which TMBG created a CD music insert to accompany the artwork and stories. Readings by Eggers and select contributing authors, an illuminating slideshow, and songs performed by TMBG-including many of their well-known tunes-collide in this high-concept, low-budget, always-entertaining shindig the Village Voice calls "a masterpiece of retro geek chic."
