The Protest is a love story that tells of a woman who loved too easily and then not easily enough; a man who loved so much he would give up the Garden of Eden; and children who were terrified to love because God was watching. With charisma and twisting of God's will, Rev. Logan Churlick seduces Jane Crownhart. After giving birth to twins and shunning Logan, Jane experiences years of self-doubt, and questions the existence of real love. Love finds Jane, however, and pits her once more against her principles, while Logan's obsession with the mother of children "God gave him" grows.
Aided by her schizophrenic sister, Jane battles the Jesus that stalks her. But even her sister's insane insights can't help the true victims, who are slowly succumbing to a "C.I.A." firebombing by the blood. Jane makes a Solomon-like decision to save her kids. Then comes the phone call that resurrects the bitter corner of her soul she thought was dead.
The novel contains an Appendix of Resources to help those dealing with issues of fanatical religion.
