"Seismic Protection of Laboratory Contents: Design and Implementation Issues" by William Holmes and Mary Comerio.
The John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center at Stanford University is pleased to host two special seminars on recent studies to improve the seismic safety of university facilities. The seminars focus on reducing the earthquake risk to the U.C. Berkeley Campus, which sits astride the Hayward Fault. Many of the lessons from the Berkeley scenario apply equally to Stanford?s risk from the San Andreas Fault. The first seminar focuses on engineering issues associated with protecting damage to contents in high-tech laboratories, and the second seminar focuses on broader issues related to seismic risk and prioritization of seismic retrofit for existing (seismically deficient) buildings. Lectures are free and open to the public.
