In this second of three 20th-anniversary concerts at Lively Arts, the St. Lawrence String Quartet welcomes Quartet alumni Barry Shiffman (violin) and Marina Hoover (cello) in a wide-ranging program of Strauss, Berg, and Dvorak--composers known for their ravishing, lyrical string writing. Strauss's 1939 Capriccio was composed as the prelude to the composer's final, eponymous opera and offers a compelling window into the chamber music "voice" of a composer perhaps best known for his large-scale works.
