Event Description
Do you get sweaty palms just thinking about the word "networking"? Do you get tongue-tied when you try to represent yourself to new business contacts? Are you uncomfortable at networking and introducing yourself to people? Then the School of Engineering Alumni Career Program on August 19th, Speed Networking 101, is designed just for you.
Speed networking programs are showing up all around the world. These events are a fun and effective way to make a large number of connections in a very different environment from the standard business networking meetings. You'll meet other Stanford engineering alumni professionals in a short period of time, while learning the skills necessary to network in the "real world".
Be prepared - this is a highly interactive evening. But, we'll be sure you're ready for it by beginning the presentation with a group exercise on building your personal three minute "elevator pitch". This will be followed by a structured "speed networking" session where you'll have the opportunity to practice what you've learned while building your database of contacts. Every five minutes you'll rotate to the next person, growing your networks as you go.
Bring lots of business cards to share!
