Continuing Studies' Creative Writing Program has long been a hub for many of the Bay Area's most illustrious writers. In this program, eight Continuing Studies writing teachers will join together to give brief readings from their work. Included will be: Julie Orringer and Ryan Harty, reading from their recently published short story collections How to Breathe Underwater and Bring Me Your Saddest Arizona; Tom Barbash, author of The Last Good Chance and the New York Times bestseller On Top of the World; Stephen Elliott, author of four novels including A Life Without Consequences and Happy Baby (February 2004); Brian Teare, a recent recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant; Geri Doran, a former Stegner fellow and recipient of the Literary Arts/Oregon Literary fellowship; Angela Pneuman, whose fiction has appeared in Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, the Iowa Review, and others; and Doug Dorst, whose novel Necropolis is forthcoming from Nan A. Talese/Doubleday.
