CANCELLED - SCN CoHo Series presents: the Megan Slankard Band

Stanford Concert Network and the CoHo present the Megan Slankard Band as part of their weekly CoHo series, every Thursday night.

Take 1960s folk, add Muddy Waters, Ani DiFranco, and a touch of Jewel and you might get close to Megan Slankard, but nothing like her. With a smooth voice well beyond her years, 20-year-old singer-songwriter Megan weaves perceptive lyrics and rhythmic guitar into a colorful acoustic pop with a hint of blues, "treating songwriting connoisseurs to her simple yet elegant style." (The Examiner, San Francisco, January 24, 2003)

Having honed her skills as a singer and guitarist since the age of ten, this Bay Area local just completed her second CD, Freaky Little Story, last September 2003. In addition to recording, this young artist's passion for music has lead her to several hundred performances in just five years. Last year alone brought over 100 performances in some 60 cities in four different countries, with invitations to showcase at the NEMO Music Conference in Boston and NXNE Music Festival in Toronto (Canada,) to tour as opening act for British singer-songwriter David Knopfler (Dire Straits).
