Sustainable Habits Lectures

Come share a unique learning experience with students, faculty and staff! All are welcome to attend the THURSDAY evening lectures for this Student Initiated Course on resource systems. This winter we are looking at the full cycle systems for the delivery of food, water, energy/electricity, building/infrastructure, transportation, and waste/recycling services. The class will focus on the resource systems in which Stanford takes part, questioning assumptions of users, system management, externalities and personal habits. Through research and analysis we will expand understanding of a human place within broader systems and will highlight interactions and overlaps between different resource systems. Lectures are open to the public and are delivered by Stanford faculty and staff, with introductions and course overview by Lauren Dietrich. Tuesday discussion sections are limited to 20 students.

Please be sure to attend the first lecture if you want to participate fullly and receive 2 units of credit for CEE57SI.

Please take advantage of this incredible opportunity to learn more about the environmental, social and economic impacts of the systems supportive of our daily habits, provide information and ideas to Stanford's resource management, and help us brainstorm creative ways to improve quality of life in the area, and

throughout the planet.

Dr. Suki Hoagland from the Interdisciplinary Program on Environment and Resources will deliver our first lecture on Thursday, January 8th. Drawing on her experienced in Africa, she will discuss the way different communities, who experience varied social, ecological, and economic environments, design systems to deliver basic needs and services to the people.
