Paco Pena in Conversation with Dean for Religious Life, The Rev. Scotty McLennan

Paco Pena will be performing Jan. 30th at 8 p.m. in Memorial Church, see http://livelyarts.stanford.edu for details, but this casual conversation with Stanford's Dean for Religious Life will give you a special insight.

About Paco Pena and his performance:

With the energy of a Spanish fiesta, the arresting Misa Flamenca expresses the passion of Easter through a flamenco mass infused with sorrow and joy. The centerpiece is an unforgettable, transcendent interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, delivered by a lone singer and a single dancer. Spanish guitarist and composer Paco Pena performs solo, with his acclaimed ensemble, and with the voices of the Stanford Chamber Chorale. This unique mass is the perfect crescendo to a yearlong tribute to Memorial Church, celebrating its centennial anniversary.

"...to me, flamenco seems like a spiritual experience..." --Paco Pena
