Active and influential for more than six decades and still going strong, James Moody is a true master of the jazz saxophone. (The flute, too, his humility on the subject notwithstanding.) Moody established himself as a pioneer of the bebop movement early in his career playing with Dizzy Gillespie, and later found international fame when he recorded the iconic solo known as “Moody's Mood for Love.” He has stayed at the forefront of jazz, earning countless Grammy nominations and other honors, including the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master award. Moody continues to perform around the world with his own quartet and countless collaborative projects, always innovating and pushing his music forward while preserving everything that is timeless and true about great jazz. Although he's of a younger generation, special guest pianist Benny Green has absorbed the best of the bop tradition. He's a captivating soloist and an inspiring accompanist.
