IBM Bluetooth Info Session - IEEE February Meeting

For the February IEEE meeting, IBM comes...

Want to start something big?

The IBM Extreme Blue program is looking for talented computer science and engineering students for spring, summer, and fall opportunities.

Speaker Bios:

David Cheney is a Senior Software Engineer at Extreme Blue in IBM's Almaden Research Center. David has completed over 20 Extreme Blue projects and mentored over 100 people. Previously, he led the migration of state-of-the-art web crawling and mining technology from Almaden Research into the IBM DB2 family, consulted on web technologies with IBM's Senior Management, was a leader in the development and rollout of www.ibm.com and www.austin.ibm.com, personally developed IBM's first web search service, led the connection of IBM's Austin Lab to the Internet, and developed distributed systems management software. Prior to joining IBM in 1989, David developed and taught Unix and C courseware, and worked as a software engineer on configuration management as well as process control systems. David studied Computer Science at St. Edwards University in Austin Texas, and Philosophy at St. Johns University in Collegeville, Minnesota. David has three children spending his income at widely distributed universities.

Kevin Haas is a Senior Software Engineer who recently joined Extreme Blue from IBM Global Services, where he was most recently engaged as a senior project manager working on a commercial account. His most recent assignment Prior to that assignment, Kevin was an application architect for IBM Global Services for much of his 8 years at IBM. As an architect, Kevin led a variety of e-Commerce and e-Business projects for both commercial and internal projects, including IBM's e-Commerce solution for IBM business partners, a major revenue generator for IBM. Another challenge he led was for a mid-sized company willing to rebuild their entire e-Business architecture from the ground up. While at IGS, "other duties as necessary" included advocating "newfangled" technology to reduce development costs, recruiting fresh minds for hire, mentoring through skill gaps, and disseminating best practices out to his organization. Kevin received his M.S in Computer Science from Stanford in 1996. Prior to Stanford, Kevin somehow received a B.S in Computer Science and a B.A. in Mathematical Science from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1994. He also recently became a new father to a beautify baby girl.
