Relativistic Positioning Systems are the best physical realizations of coordinate systems conceived up to now. Their concept, their basic properties and relations with reference systems are presented. Two main realizations are proposed and sketched:
- a 'galactic positioning system', i.e. physical relativistic coordinates for the Solar System and its surroundings, based on the signals of (four) millisecond pulsars, and
- a 'primary, autonomous, relativistic positioning system' for the Earth, using a global navigation satellite system (SYPOR project).
