Presidential Seminar features Religious Historian Wendy Doniger

University of Chicago Religious Historian Wendy Doniger will lead the follow-up discussion to her lecture entitled "Self-Imitation in Ancient India, Shakespeare, and Hollywood." The Monday night lecture (02/23/2004) is at the Law School, Room 190, 559 Nathan Abbott Way, Stanford University at 7 p.m.

Doniger is currently the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions at the University of Chicago, where she has taught since the late 70s. Her research and teaching interests revolve around two basic areas, Hinduism and mythology. The author of many wide-ranging essays, her books include "Hindu Myths: A Sourcebook," "Women, Androgynes, and Other Mythical Beasts," "The Implied Spider: Politics and Theology in Myth," and a new translation of the "Kamasutra."
