Jean-Luc Dehaene, former Prime-Minister of Belgium, will explore the likelihood of a European constitution.
Jean-Luc Dehaene is vice president of the constitutional Convention on the Future of Europe and is widely considered as the architect of Belgium's federal political system and credited with preparing Belgium for the euro.
Dehaene was Belgium's Prime Minister for seven years, starting in 1992, and between 1981 and 1992 he held numerous cabinet posts, including Deputy Prime Minister.
He was born in Montpellier, France, and studied law and economics at the universities of Namur and Leuven. In the 1960s, he joined the Flemish Christian Democrats and has been active in Belgian and European politics ever since.
