The Stanford University Organization of International Health, in partnership with the Bay Area International Health Interest Group, will be holding its sixth annual International Health Conference on February 28, 2004 at Stanford University. Focused around the theme of International Health in Conflict, this year's conference will address the tensions found in the global arena. Natasha Martin, FIMLS; Sheri Fink, MD, PhD, author of War Hospital; Sunil Chacko, MD, MPH, MBA, Executive director of Foundation for Science and Conscience; and Robert Desowitz, PhD, world-renowned expert on tropical diseases, are counted among this year's keynote speakers.
Highlights to the conference include faculty-run breakout sessions, student research panels, and a non-government organization (NGO) fair. Panel topics include Technologies for International Health, Women's Health and Human Rights, Population Growth and Environmental Preservation, Eye Disease in the Global Context, and many more.
Organizers hope the conference will be used as a vehicle by which future leaders may engage in dialogue with professionals currently working in the international health field.
