Echoes and Reflections

Echoes and Reflections, an exhibit of work by five photographic artists will be offered at Tresidder Union, Stanford University in the second floor student lounge from March 3 until March 31. An opening reception will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm on March 3rd.

The artists are Douglas Barnes (Half Moon Bay), Nancy H. Cole (Palo Alto), Michael Ivanitsky (San Jose), Kim Sterling (Santa Cruz) and DeWayne Yoder (Sunnyvale). Their work brings you many different styles and viewpoints. All five show work that began behind the camera lens.

The prints exhibited range from the results of tools and techniques in the darkroom to digital alchemy. The methods are but tools utilized In order to transform the camera?s image to that envisioned by the artists.

Douglas Barnes lends his great skill in classic black and white photography and his adventures with special darkroom processing, and Nancy H. Cole searches for the painterly photograph and seeks to draw the viewer into the image. DeWayne Yoder often paints an image digitally to achieve a sense of poetic mystery. Michael Ivantisky taught photography at Foothill College for many years and brings both technical mastery and wit to his specialization in color. Kim Sterling is primarily a muralist, who begins his work with a photographic image.

These photographers, long time friends, take joy in their work, and it is contagious to the viewer.
