TECH BRIEFINGS: Secure File Sharing for Stanford Groups, Departments, & Individuals

Are you still using WS-FTP, Fetch, Dreamweaver (version MX or earlier), or some other FTP method to publish web pages or otherwise transfer files from one computer to another? Then come to this important Tech Briefing to learn about the new tools that Stanford is recommending in order to transfer files securely. ITSS' Tony Silveira and Jim Brown will demonstrate the installation and operation of PC- and Mac-AFS, available on the Essential Stanford Software site (http://ess.stanford.edu/). They will also discuss security features such as Kerberos Passwords, Encryption, and Access Control Lists. Then Jason Cowart will talk about other tools for secure file transfer, including MacSFTP and SecureFX. Anyone who moves files from one computer to another, whether on a Mac or a PC, should attend this session. Don't risk revealing your password and/or data to outside snoopers. Be informed!
