This documentary follows the path of one of the world’s most misunderstood religions, Vodou, across the waters from West Africa to New York City. (1985, 52 minutes) Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Vodoun/Vodounon: Portraits of Initiates, which presents compelling diptychs by the Belgian photographer Jean Dominique Burton, who sensitively portrays Vodoun practitioners in Benin and their sacred shrines.
