SCN Coho Series presents: Matt Wertz

"When I began writing songs, I never intended for anyone to hear them," explains Matt Wertz, a Kansas native who bought his first guitar during freshman year of college. "It was simply the natural outpouring of my heart." But these songs that were so easily pouring forth would not stay hidden and it wasnýt long until Wertz was able to share his music with the public.

Touring aggressively the past year-and-a half and playing a variety of venues - from college campuses to bars, Matt engages listeners with his impassioned breathy vocals and the stage presence of an old friend. Regardless of whatever stories he shares every gig, who Matt is to his audience is who he is in real life. "It's so refreshing to know I'm right where I'm supposed to be," he declares. "And I really haven't had much at all to do with it."
