Formed in Georgetown University but based in San Francisco, Smith Point is helping to define the new, prolific sound of local rock ? catchy melodies, upbeat rhythms, emotionally charged lyrics. It's fun, energetic guitar pop that makes for a fast paced live show. One critic has said that Smith Point "falls somewhere between the melodic beauty of the Goo Goo Dolls/Counting Crows and the hooky charm of Good Charlotte/Jimmy Eat World" (kingsofar.com), and all the while is focused on rhythms worth moving to and melodies worth singing. Having gained critical praise for its debut EP "All in All," Smith Point's song "Escape" has even featured in an episode of the WB's "One Tree Hill".
An enigma to many, Kingstreet jumps between driving alternative rock, beautiful soaring love ballads and pop funk that Michael Jackson would be proud of. Their freshman full length album "Along Came Lizzy" is slated for release in March '04. Last year they were selected by Cornerband.com as one of the worlds 30 Best Bands and have had over 85,000 downloads of their old music. Having a rich gig history that includes some of the Bay Area?s largest band showcases such as the DIY convention SF and sharing bills with artists like Merl Saunders and Pseudopod, Kingstreet is definitely a band to watch for.
