Compline

This week's choir: Early Music Singers.

Compline consists of psalms, short passages from Scripture, a hymn, a canticle, a litany and additional prayers. In keeping with the earliest practices of the monastic communities, Compline is offered when the work of the day is completed, and the quietness of evening settles over the heart and minds of those who have come together in thankfulness for the blessings of the day which has passed, and in anticipation of God?s gift for a new day.

At Stanford, Compline is a reflective 30-minute service of chant by various local choirs, amidst the candlelit ambiance of Memorial Church. All faiths and religious backgrounds are welcome. No participation is necessary.
