Making sense of it all: Pattern prediction in infancy
Abstract:
We learn about regularly-occurring events in the perceptual environment
by ascertaining associations among temporally adjacent stimuli in input
sequences. Recent research has shown that infants are remarkably adept
at learning the input statistics of auditory, visual, and multimodal
sequences. I will be discussing this research in terms of a learning
mechanism that supports infants' understanding of their perceptual
environment.
