FACES 2004 Conference Panel: U.S.-China Media Relations ? Misrepresentations, Biases, and Common Ground

FACES 2004 Conference: "On Common Ground"

April 11-17, 2004

This panel investigates the complex relationship between U.S. and Chinese media. Looking at how different issues have been represented through Chinese or U.S. journalism can shed some light on the interactions between the two countries in other fields as well. A combination of academic and industry perspectives allows delegates to examine the intersections between media, policy, and cultural biases. Panelists will explore causes for miscommunication and stereotypes to build new grounds for understanding in future U.S.-China interactions.

William Woo (moderator), Lorry I. Lokey Visiting Professor in Professional Journalism, Stanford University
