Afro-Futurism: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Speculations "Ancestors, Ghosts, and Social Technology"

Most recently, Nisi Shawl's stories have been published in Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine and Strange Horizons; they also appear in Mojo: Conjure Stories, and in both volumes of the groundbreaking Dark Matter anthology series, which focuses on speculative fiction by people of African descent. With her friend Cindy Ward, she teaches "Writing the Other: Bridging Cultural Differences for Successful Fiction," a class based on her controversial and thought-provoking essay "Transracial Writing for the Sincere." The Seattle Times publishes her reviews of science and science fiction books. A member of the board of the prestigious Clarion West Writers Workshop, she lives in Seattle, on a direct bus route to the beach.
