Heart Disease and South Asians: A Population at Risk

This talk will focus on the multiple factors that make South Asians a higher risk group for cardiovascular disease , as well as their increased likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. Dr. Gerald Reaven, Professor of Medicine ( Active Emeritus) Stanford University, renown researcher whose groundbreaking work contributed to the understanding of the importance of abnormal insulin action in type 2 diabetes and heart disease will discuss the implications of what his findings mean for those most at risk. Dr. Meenakshi Aggarwal, a specialist in cardiovascular diseases, will modify the risks.
