Junior Mance Trio

Piano great Junior Mance plays blues-tinged, bop-driven jazz that never fails to earn a rousing audience response. Known for the infectious rhythmic qualities and joy of his performances, Mance traces his roots to a rich vein of the jazz mother lode—the late 40's bands of Gene Amoons and Lester Young. Employment in the touring bands of Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderley and Dizzy Gillespie followed. The bluesy stylist formed his own trio in 1961 and continued forging the excellence that, in 1997, earned him a place in the International Jazz Hall of Fame. Mance will perform with local heros Akira Tana (drums) and Mike Zisman (bass).
