Dee Spencer: The Great American Songbook

This annual event is always a winner with Stanford Jazz Fest audiences. Pianist Dee Spencer leads a celebration of the beloved romantic songs from the 40s, 50's and 60s that have come to be known, for good reason, as the great jazz standards. An all-star assemblage of SJW faculty members will provide spirited interpretations of these "forever young" classics, ensuring a night of great jazz and improvisation. The wonderful piano work of Spencer, who's performed with Branford Marsalis, John Handy and Regina Carter and co-directs the Jazz and World Music Studies Program at SF State University, enlivens the night even more.
