Dave Liebman Quartet

Over the past 30 years, Dave Liebman has been considered the most influential soprano saxophonist in progressive jazz. But given his equally prodigious accomplishments on tenor and flute, it is much more accurate to refer to Liebman as one of the most prominent and admired jazz musicians in the world, period. Forging the early foundations of his career within the turbulent improvisational energy of the New York City loft scene of the late 60Â?s, Liebman soon moved on to formative stints in the bands of Pete LaRoca and Elvin Jones. 1973Â?74 found Liebman with Miles Davis during the trumpet master's funk influenced "On the Corner" period. Over the three decades since, Liebman has formed extended collaborative projects with musicians like Richie Beirach, Pee Wee Ellis and John Scofield. Throughout this prolific career, Liebman has been a fearless musical explorer and stylistic innovator. With a broad, expressive tone and a breathtaking technical facility, Liebman sculpts thrilling solos that while often challenging in energy and range, always maintain an integrity and human dimension that warmly invite the audience along for a rewarding ride. Liebman will be performing with a stirring ensemble of veteran jazz masters, including pianist Geoffrey Keezer, drummer Akira Tana, bassist Ray Drummond.
