Andrew Speight with the Harold Mabern Trio

Warm of tone, gracefully melodic and an explosive improviser, alto saxophonist Andrew Speight is on of the most talented straight-ahead jazz musicians in the Bay Area. Speight, from Sydney, Australia, began playing with touring American greats like Nat Adderley and Jimmy Heath straight out of high school. Speight made his mark in the U.S. as a 1991 finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition. A San Francisco State faculty member since 1999, Speight performs frequently with both Branford and Wynton Marsalis, among many others. The teaming of Speight with piano legend Harold Mabern will surely produce an extraordinary, rollicking night of jazz.
