Patrick Mangto, Executive Director and founder of Asian Pacific Islanders for Human Rights (APIHR) and Ohana House, the nation's first API Community Center, will focus on how racial identity can both work to oppress and create opportunity to create social change. He will discuss his experience of growing up in the US as a South Asian gay man who was granted asylum based on fear of persecution in 1999. Patrick will also talk about working within the API and the non-API communities and how his identity as South Asian impacts his work. For more information, visit: http://www.apihr.org
