Slam Poetry Performace & Open Mic

Join slam poet/solo performer Aya de Leon and some of the Bay Area's hottest poets for an evening of slam-style poetry, the art of performance poetry which puts a dual emphasis on writing and performance. The poetry slam is a competitive, highly expressive, and highly energetic event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience on a scale of 1-10. Kind of like the Olympics, only poetry.

The San Francisco Bay Area has the largest Poetry Slam in the US, and a diverse wealth of talent. Come see local poets who have honed their skills on the local and national poetry scene. Come snap your fingers, stomp your feet, shout your encouragement, and even, if you dare, bring your own work to the open mic. In addition to local slam poets, Aya's current and former Stanford students will be presenting as well.

Join us for an evening of vibrant spoken word from some of the Bay Area's most lively artists. Open mic sign up begins at 7:00.
