Fast Track Talk - Innovation with Bob Sutton

Stanford Advanced Project Management (SAPM) presents An Evening With Bob Sutton.

More Trouble Than They Are Worth -

Professor Sutton will briefly discus his recent Harvard Business Review essay, More Trouble Than They Are Worth. Sutton will talk about why organizations should avoid hiring "jerks", even when they are superstars, and how to discourage all members of an organization from engaging in such unpleasant and destructive behavior.

Innovation: Some Weird (and Not so Weird) Ideas for Making it Happen -

Professon will talk about his recent book, Weird Ideas That Work: 11 1/2 Practices for Promoting, Managing, and Sustaining Innovation. Sutton will show why managing innovation requires approaches that clash with those for routine work, that some of the most lauded management practices actually stifle innovation. Sutton will then introduce specific management practices that strike many managers as odd, even downright wrong, yet are based on rigorous theory and research and exploited by some of the most innovative teams and companies.
