The People Called Methodists

The Methodists started as a movement of revival within the Church of England and split off as a separate denomination around the time of John Wesley's death in the late 18th century.

Charis Quay (Ph.D. candidate in Physics) shall attempt to provide a broad overview of 'the people called Methodists', concentrating on the rise of Methodism in the context of 18th century England, and on the theological emphases and practical distinctives of the Methodist church. She'll also touch briefly on the life of John Wesley and on the Methodist church today.

Dinner will be provided at 6:30pm and the talk begins at 7pm. This talk is part of IVGrad's summer series on the Wesleys.
