Environmental Forum featuring Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program

The Right Honorable Helen Clark is the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program and former Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Helen Clark will address Why Tackling Climate Change Matters for Development.

Clark will present climate change as a defining development challenge for the 21st Century, arguing that unless coordinated global action is urgently stepped-up, climate change could stall and then reverse hard fought progress to reduce extreme poverty and improve the well-being of people around the world.  She will explore the reasons political action has, thus far, been too slow and fragmented; and suggest the steps the world needs to take, including in climate change negotiations this November, to safeguard development gains and advance integrated solutions which curb global warming and advance human development.
