Stanford Opera Workshop: Opera-tions

Stanford Opera Workshop presents three one-act operas examining the nuts and bolts of opera performance. A West Coast première of Henry Cowell’s The Commission reflects the inner workings of the composer’s mind; Soap Opera, a re-working of Mozart’s Impresario, takes a fun look at the backstage casting process; and a première of a new work by faculty composer Giancarlo Aquilanti with libretto by Derek Miller (Ph.D. candidate, TAPS), First Night at the Opera,, turns the spotlight on the audience’s experience of this beloved, sometimes feared, musical genre: OPERA
