Richard Serrano: Fear God and Hide That Beauty: Poetry and the Qur’an

Richard Serrano is Associate Professor of French and Comparative Literature at

Rutgers University. His first book, Neither a Borrower: Forging Traditions

in French, Chinese and Arabic Poetry, appeared with Legenda, Press of Oxford

European Humanities Research Center, in 2002. His second book Against the

Postcolonial: 'Francophone' Writers at the Ends of French Empire, will appear

in Spring, 2005 with Lexington Books as part of the series After the Empire:

The Francophone World and Postcolonial France. His current project is a study

of the relationship between the Qur'an and poetry.
