Rite to Remember- Altar as Performance, by Celia Herrera-Rodriguez

This performance in the act of re-membering Chicano/Latino Indigenous history & identity involves the construction of an aboriginal altar, “the fireplace” & the basic sacred elements of Indigenous American ceremony: stone, water, corn, fire, etc. The spoken text confronts the ever-inventive forms of colonization imposed about U.S. Latinos and Chicanos. Reception to follow at El Centro Chicano
