Paul Dresher Ensemble with Rinde Eckert, Slow Fire

"A rare piece of music theater, a tour de force of intellectual and emotional artistry."

-- San Francisco Chronicle

Hailed as a masterpiece of searing originality in the 1980s, "Slow Fire" is a theatrical blend of opera, rock, performance art, and postminimal electronic music. Renowned new-music composer Paul Dresher and writer/performer "singer-speaker-acrobat-contortionist" Rinde Eckert delve into the psyche of a man trying to reconcile the American dream with the dark underbelly of urban culture. Restaged for its 20th anniversary, "Slow Fire" returns to Lively Arts, where the piece had its original Bay Area debut.
