GCEP Energy Seminar: The American Public's Views of Global Climate Change and Potential Amelioration Strategies

Jon Krosnick-- Stanford Professor of Communication, Political Science, and Psychology (by courtesy)-- will discuss the following:

Corporate and government support for the development of new technologies to deal with global climate change depends in part on the extent to which voters and consumers see this as a worthy goal. And in turn, public support for this technological agenda depends upon whether people believe global warming has been occurring, their views of its causes and effects, their attitudes toward these effects, and their understanding of how these effects might be ameliorated. For the past 10 years, Professor Krosnick has been studying the public's understanding of these issues and their preferences regarding corporate and government action. In this talk, Professor Krosnick will review his program of research and explore the possible links to GCEP.
