Summer Theater Festival Film Series: Apocalyptic Comedy

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION: CEMEX AUDITORIUM (KNIGHT MANAGEMENT CENTER)

This summer’s free film series focuses on the comic potential in even the most desperate of situations. Stanford faculty and SST company members will introduce our screenings of Big Business (Laurel and Hardy) and Dr. Strangelove (Stanley Kubrick), One, Two, Three (Billy Wilder), Duck Soup (Marx Brothers), Catch-22 (Mike Nichols), The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin), In Bruges (Martin McDonagh), and Seven Beauties (Lina Wertmüller). Patrons will receive a brief filmography, prepared by SST’s Roselyn Hallett. All of the screenings are free and tickets are not required.

For more information on the companion course, Wilde, Beckett, and the Split-Visions of Comedy with SST Director Rush Rehm, please visit the course page. Enrolled students will also receive free tickets to preview performances of The Importance of Being Earnest, Happy Days, and the symposium. For additional details about the festival, please visit SST's information page.
