"Suspensions for Advanced LIGO"

Norna A. Robertson, visiting professor, Ginzton Labs/Stanford and University of Glasgow. Detection and study of gravitational waves should lead to a new branch of astronomy. This introduction will review German/UK GEO 600 project, the Advanced LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory) project, and upgrades and improvements for such detectors.
