Mark Hertsgaard is a journalist, broadcaster and author whose books have been translated into fifteen languages. He is the author most recently of "The Eagle's Shadow: Why America Fascinates and Infuriates the World" (2002). He has contributed The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Time, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Salon, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, La Repubblica, and Yomiuri Shimbum. He is the environment correspondent for The Nation, the political correspondent for the national satellite channel Link TV, and a regular contributor to the public radio program "Marketplace." He has taught at Johns Hopkins University and the University of California at Berkeley School of Journalism. He lives in San Francisco. More information available at www.markhertsgaard.com.
