Collaborative Storytelling between Virtual and Real Children

Justine Cassell, Professor of Communication Studies and Media Technology & Society at Northwestern University, presents her work on the development of a virtual playmate to encourage storytelling amongst children. Based on research that shows the value of spontaneous storytelling in the cognitive and linguistic development of youngsters, Professor Cassell will discuss the challenges of incorporating childhood speech and behavior into a virtual model.
