Stegner Fellow Brian Spears and former Stegner Fellow Stephen Elliott will read from their work.
Stephen Elliott is now the Marsh McCall Lecturer at Stanford University. He is the author of the novel "Happy Baby" and the political memoir "Looking Forward To It Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The American Electoral Process". His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The New York Times, GQ, McSweeney's, The Believer, The Village Voice, and others.
Brian Spears was raised in Louisiana as a Jehovah's Witness, and he remained one
until his mid-twenties. After returning to college and leaving his church,
he realized he had a lot to write about. He holds an BA in English from
Southeastern Louisiana University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the
University of Arkansas, is currently a Stegner Fellow, and his poetry has
been rejected by some of the most prestigious journals in the nation.
