BEYOND TAILHOOK: Military Sexual Trauma

"BEYOND TAILHOOK: Military Sexual Trauma. History, Current Causes, Diagnosis and Management"

Sexual harassment and sexual assault that occurs in a military setting is called military sexual trauma (MST). The "Tailhook" scandal brought public attention to this problem in 1991, but, in fact, women and men in military service have been suffering MST since World War II.

Ms. Thrailkill will describe how Congress responded to the Tailhook affair, authorized the Veteran's Administration to deal with MST, how the VA diagnoses and treats MST and how it differs from sexual harassment in civilian workplaces.

Speaker: Ann Thrailkill MSN, RNP

Women Veterans Program Manager and Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator Veteran's Administration Hospital, Palo Alto
