Medical students will showcase their medical research projects at the 31st Annual Stanford Medical Student Research Symposium on Thursday, May 1, 2014.  Over 40 MD and MD/PhD students will present their original research projects carried out in laboratories, clinics and the community - locally and abroad. These projects from the medical student body demanded that students identify and research contemporary health issues that affect individuals and communities as a whole.

Faculty, staff, students, and the public are invited to LKSC’s Berg Hall beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Students will be available at their posters for informal discussions from 3:00pm-5:30pm.

These physicians-in-training will cover topics from original research, such as: “Parallel Rarebits: A Novel, Large-Scale Visual Field Screening Methodology; “Integrative Medicine & the Underserved: What are the barriers;” “Does Urinary BPA Change After Bariatric Surgery;” and “Patient-centered Care:  Student perspectives on the benefits and challenges.”

Later in the afternoon, at 5:45pm after closing remarks by Dean Minor, the Stanford University Medical Center Alumni Association will announce the students with the outstanding research posters, capping the event.
