Tour the Stanford Solar Decathlon Start.Home at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve

Sustainability at its Core: A Student-Built Green Home as Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.

Start.Home is Stanford University’s student-designed, student-built entry into the 2013 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. The home features net-zero energy use, sustainably-sourced materials, and passive heating and cooling. It powerfully re-envisions residential home construction and resource-aware habitation.
Start.Home was moved to the university’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve in October 2013 and will serve as the home to the preserve’s ranger and his family, with plans for eventually becoming a residence for long-term visiting research and scholars of the preserve. Come join us and learn about the Stanford Start.Home from students and members of the project team!
