A modern re-imagining of Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, In The Blood tells the story of Hester, a homeless single mother living with her brood of children under a bridge.

Director Harry J. Elam, Jr. is the Robert and Ruth Halperin University Fellow for Undergraduate Education, Professor of Drama, Director of Graduates Studies in Drama, Director of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts and Director of the Committee on Black Performing Arts at Stanford University. At Stanford he has been awarded five different awards for his undergraduate teaching. He has directed both professionally and at academic institutions for over fifteen years.

Playwright Suzan-Lori Parks was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2001, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for her play Topdog/Underdog--she is the first African-American woman to be awarded the Pulitzer in Theater. Parks has taught at several institutions, including Yale University and California Institute for the Arts. Join us for a conversation with Suzan-Lori Parks and director Harry Elam in the Pigott Theater at 12pm on Thursday, March 3. TIME CHANGE: Ms. Parks will be here at NOON, not 1:30 as previously listed.

* Please note: Seating is limited; ticket reservations highly recommended. Due to the language and subject matter, this play is not suitable for children.
