Genealogies of Jewish Stand Up

Donald Weber will explore the relationship between the forefathers of Jewish stand up comedy such as Milton Berle, Jackie Mason, and Lenny Bruce and contemporary figures such as Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, and Marc Maron. Donald Weber is the MacGregor Professor of English and chair of the English Department at Mt. Holyoke College, and author of the Haunted in the New World: Jewish American Culture from Cahan to 'The Goldbergs, which will be published later this year. The talk will be illustrated by video clips.
