ENCOUNTER:MERCE Movement in Space and Time: A Conversation On Cunningham Choreography

Cunningham's work changed the face of dance forever. Notable critics, dance historians, and performers who have worked closely with Cunningham examine the impact of his technique and discuss the nature of his choreography and the physical language of his work.

Included on the panel are Carolyn Brown, founding member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company; acclaimed filmmaker Charles Atlas; Michael Cole, former Cunningham company member; Margaret Jenkins, choreographer and dance teacher; and Janice Ross, dance historian and critic, as moderator.

This is event is part of Encounter:Merce, Stanford's campus-wide interdisciplinary exploration through the arts, focusing on the life and art of Merce Cunningham, legendary choreographer, dance innovator, and artistic thinker.
